Street art is more than just the visually captivating murals; it embraces the very essence of the urban environment. The collection of noice and the harsh, dirty character of the city streets all contribute to the overall experience of street art. "360 Degrees of Street Art" is a unique collection of videos captured using a 360-degree camera, showcasing the vibrant murals around the Afrikaanderwijk neighbourhood in Rotterdam. As a viewer, you have the freedom to interact with the art by clicking and dragging or using your phone to explore every angle of these murals.
This project emerged from a collaboration with POW!WOW! Rotterdam, now known as ALL CAPS, a renowned street art festival organisation. The vision behind it was to create a virtual encounter with street art that immerses viewers, making them feel as if they were physically present at the location. Given the situation of Covid at the time of the project and social distancing measures during this period, this project serves as an experiment to explore alternative ways of providing non-physical experiences through screen-based or virtual mediums. These captivating videos can be enjoyed with a VR 360 headset or via platforms like YouTube.
